Organizational announcement

The 20th anniversary of the start of my blogging career has come and gone, entirely unnoticed by anyone, myself included. I did notice, however, that this blog is steadily declining, bringing me to think that it is time to make some changes.
Over the past two decades of continuous blogging, I have tried various approaches and venues.
• The first, from 2006 until 2021, was at https://cluborlov.blogspot.com, where just under a thousand of my earliest posts can still be found.
• I  also tried blogging at Patreon. Surprpsingly, it didn't ban me for being less than a full-retard liberal, but then in the spring of 2022 Patreon stopped working for me because of anti-Russian sanctions (at the time, I was already done with the US and living in Russia). Patreon blocked users from Russia and the US Treasury blocked payments to Russia. This forced me to switch venues yet again.
• Since then, I have been blogging at https://boosty.to/cluborlov. Boosty has solved most of the sanctions-related issues. There are exactly zero alternatives to Boosty.
Ever since my move from Blogspot to Patreon, I have been using the subscription model. It worked very well at Patreon and moderately well at Boosty — at first, but worse and worse over time. The number of subscribers has been dropping steadily and the readership has dwindled appreciably.
The demographics are not in favor of text-based blogs. My readers are getting older and seem to become less avid readers over time. Quite a lot of them begin to prefer the video format. Meanwhile, those significantly younger don't even seem to be aware of anything that is not available on video. Overall, text has fallen out of fashion.
And so, it is time to try something else. I am not yet sure what exactly this will be, but I am leaning in the direction of putting out fewer articles and more videos, and making most of them freely available. This will require a bit of retooling on my end, and so I will take a short hiatus, then re-launch in September.
In the meantime, please feel free to peruse and to share any of a dozen of my most popular posts from the past year, listed below, which I have made freely available.

Flaubert once began a letter by saying "I am writing you a long letter because I don't have time to write a short one." Good writing is difficult. You have a rare talent for writing with wit, economy and style-le mo juste sums it up.
You have been a beacon in a sea of noise. Thank you for all you have done, in your posts and in your books.
Of the all the email and nottifications that I receive each day, anything written by you is my immediate read, come what may.
Nothing supplants the written word. The fragility of the electronic world will become evident in the future, when it's too late.
God speed in all of your endeavors.

Last not least: I -we- need your wicked humor. Like the Fool in Shakespeare's "King Lear", and, I suspect, like the
venerable "Holy Fool" in Russian Tradition, this humor is the
antidote of Truth to the poison seeping in and through humanity time and time
again right up to today.
Please let us know how I
-we- can support you in the future. For now: fare well, and best wishes,
hoping to see/hear you again when the time comes.
[cont'd 1] I welcome your decision to take a time of leave as you discern and weigh options and ways how to proceed going forward. Looking back on my relatively short time as a subscriber, I am sorry to let go of the great read your posts always are. Yet, I am enriched and challenged through them, and therefore confident that you will find the next steps on your path, taking as many people as possible along. Meanwhile, I have ordered "Shrinking the Technosphere" and "The Five Stages of Collapse", and have read "Reinventing Collapse" ad "The Brown New Deal" - so I'm not going to be out of challenges to my ways of thinking and living.
Hi Dmitry, your headline, and the post that follows it, do not come as a surprise. In fact, since you posted a video instead of text a few weeks ago, the thought kept creeping into my mind "Is Dmitry going to continue?" - only to be rebuffed by my efforts to delete it. I applaud and welcome your decision. I'm sorry to no longer see your postings in my email inbox, heralding the great read full of facts and challenging thinking. Now is the time to look forward. I wish you well as you take this time and embark on discerning the possibilities of what will be the way to proceed on your path, and how to invite people you come along.
Keep me in touch.
What ever you do I will continue to support you. I depend on your knowledge to help keep me sane.
Looks like you've already made up your mind and perhaps the data supports it. FWIW, I'm "old" (55) and appreciate actually reading and not going to yet another video. I don't have time for videos. I am open-minded that you can possibly share some things in that medium that perhaps makes a net positive. I'll look for it.
Shawn, I don't like videos myself. But text no longer works socially.
I want to hear from you as one of few links to insight on the real Russia. The propaganda in the U.S. is full steam. The U.S. continues to decline in authenticity and safety. I'd hate to see you go.
Dmitry, I have long followed your works and have most of your books. Your insights and analysis, along with a solid knowledge of history, is invaluable. I am 81 years old and still read extensively, so, I appreciate your posts. And I do admit, I find some video presentations (mostly on Substack and very few on YouTube) quite functional. I lose interest if the video duration is much more than 30 minutes because much is “fluff.” Perhaps a hybrid approach would be a starting point. Some video and some writings. I encourage you to stay in the fight. Regards, Ed Schroeder
Hi Dmitry, thanks for the reminder of Club Orlov!
I wish you much succes with switching to a new way of communicating with your audience! Challenging.
Dmitri, in regards to video, I saw you once on The Duran, which seemed to go very well but you were never on again. Wondering why. If you do more in the way of videos I think you would be a welcome guest on 'Tommy's Podcast' or 'Rich Does Politics'. I believe J. Kunstler has been on both of those, so he could give you the details.
Rick Babley,
A chat between Andrei Martyanov and our dear Dmitri could be super good too.
well call me old fashioned! Scan text much more bandwidth and much more space for nuance and preparation. I guess that I am just too curmudgeonly for the new world.
Gideon Anthony, future historians won't know what happened to Western Civilization. The popular hypothesis will be that it got sucked in by a black hole.
You are right, we and our taste have grown old. The passage of time adds to it. All the best-
Dimitri,
Your foray into theology was intensely interesting and insightfull.
Which of your books contain your essays on Trinity vs Monad? A series of 3-4 essays going from null to 1, 2, and 3.
Благодарю вас
Morgan Knecht, that's in Bolt.

I can agree if you are targeting mainly english native and people with good speech understanding: it may be an interesting improvement. Otherwise videos without subtitles may lead to an unexpected loss of readers who read and translate slowly or, even worse, use translators to fully understand what you are saying.
My wife and I have been following you since your early posts, long before we moved to Russia. Thanks for all your posts, make sure to leave a forwarding address. Time does pass. 8 years since we first arrived in Russia, 5 years this week since we moved here.
Jerry Durand, no worries, I will still use Boosty. There really isn't any alternative, be it text, audio or video blogging.
Dmitri, I
read all your publications with great interest. I am reading you in English, my
knowledge of Russian language remains too average. I prefer to read your texts
than to listen to the videos. A Russian's view of the world, and particularly
the Western world, is essential to escape our navel-gazing. Your humor is
indispensable to me. I hope you will continue to publish in Russian or English
writing.
Have you considered that some of your material is repetitive, and not very much different from other alternative media sources? I used to be excited about your next article , now I pretty much know what you will write about. This is in no way, told with bad intentions Dmitry, I am just speaking from my heart.
Димитър Апостолов, I suppose I am getting old. Old people tend to repeat themselves. Thanks for letting me know that this is happening. Knowing when to call it quits is very important. I look at some other "alternative pundits" like Paul Craig Roberts and Gilbert Doctorow and think: "God, please don't let me ever get to be like that!" There's no fool like an old fool. It brings to mind "Komm, süßer Tod" ("Come, sweet Death") from a ditty by Johan Sebastian Bach.
Dmitry Orlov, I do not think that is the reason. It seems to me you are trying to be up to date with the current events, and this is to the detriment of your own ideas, interesting concepts, thoughts and original work. Which are unique and have brought you the recognition you deserve. That's just me though! I believe when someone does what he is good at and his heart is there, good times and success will come!
