Organizational announcement

The 20th anniversary of the start of my blogging career has come and gone, entirely unnoticed by anyone, myself included. I did notice, however, that this blog is steadily declining, bringing me to think that it is time to make some changes.
Over the past two decades of continuous blogging, I have tried various approaches and venues.
• The first, from 2006 until 2021, was at https://cluborlov.blogspot.com, where just under a thousand of my earliest posts can still be found.
• I  also tried blogging at Patreon. Surprpsingly, it didn't ban me for being less than a full-retard liberal, but then in the spring of 2022 Patreon stopped working for me because of anti-Russian sanctions (at the time, I was already done with the US and living in Russia). Patreon blocked users from Russia and the US Treasury blocked payments to Russia. This forced me to switch venues yet again.
• Since then, I have been blogging at https://boosty.to/cluborlov. Boosty has solved most of the sanctions-related issues. There are exactly zero alternatives to Boosty.
Ever since my move from Blogspot to Patreon, I have been using the subscription model. It worked very well at Patreon and moderately well at Boosty — at first, but worse and worse over time. The number of subscribers has been dropping steadily and the readership has dwindled appreciably.
The demographics are not in favor of text-based blogs. My readers are getting older and seem to become less avid readers over time. Quite a lot of them begin to prefer the video format. Meanwhile, those significantly younger don't even seem to be aware of anything that is not available on video. Overall, text has fallen out of fashion.
And so, it is time to try something else. I am not yet sure what exactly this will be, but I am leaning in the direction of putting out fewer articles and more videos, and making most of them freely available. This will require a bit of retooling on my end, and so I will take a short hiatus, then re-launch in September.
In the meantime, please feel free to peruse and to share any of a dozen of my most popular posts from the past year, listed below, which I have made freely available.

Dmitry, I have long followed your works and have most of your books. Your insights and analysis, along with a solid knowledge of history, is invaluable. I am 81 years old and still read extensively, so, I appreciate your posts. And I do admit, I find some video presentations (mostly on Substack and very few on YouTube) quite functional. I lose interest if the video duration is much more than 30 minutes because much is “fluff.” Perhaps a hybrid approach would be a starting point. Some video and some writings. I encourage you to stay in the fight. Regards, Ed Schroeder
Hi Dmitry, thanks for the reminder of Club Orlov!
I wish you much succes with switching to a new way of communicating with your audience! Challenging.
Dmitri, in regards to video, I saw you once on The Duran, which seemed to go very well but you were never on again. Wondering why. If you do more in the way of videos I think you would be a welcome guest on 'Tommy's Podcast' or 'Rich Does Politics'. I believe J. Kunstler has been on both of those, so he could give you the details.
Rick Babley,
A chat between Andrei Martyanov and our dear Dmitri could be super good too.
well call me old fashioned! Scan text much more bandwidth and much more space for nuance and preparation. I guess that I am just too curmudgeonly for the new world.
Gideon Anthony, future historians won't know what happened to Western Civilization. The popular hypothesis will be that it got sucked in by a black hole.
You are right, we and our taste have grown old. The passage of time adds to it. All the best-
Dimitri,
Your foray into theology was intensely interesting and insightfull.
Which of your books contain your essays on Trinity vs Monad? A series of 3-4 essays going from null to 1, 2, and 3.
Благодарю вас
Morgan Knecht, that's in Bolt.

I can agree if you are targeting mainly english native and people with good speech understanding: it may be an interesting improvement. Otherwise videos without subtitles may lead to an unexpected loss of readers who read and translate slowly or, even worse, use translators to fully understand what you are saying.
My wife and I have been following you since your early posts, long before we moved to Russia. Thanks for all your posts, make sure to leave a forwarding address. Time does pass. 8 years since we first arrived in Russia, 5 years this week since we moved here.
Jerry Durand, no worries, I will still use Boosty. There really isn't any alternative, be it text, audio or video blogging.
Dmitri, I
read all your publications with great interest. I am reading you in English, my
knowledge of Russian language remains too average. I prefer to read your texts
than to listen to the videos. A Russian's view of the world, and particularly
the Western world, is essential to escape our navel-gazing. Your humor is
indispensable to me. I hope you will continue to publish in Russian or English
writing.
Have you considered that some of your material is repetitive, and not very much different from other alternative media sources? I used to be excited about your next article , now I pretty much know what you will write about. This is in no way, told with bad intentions Dmitry, I am just speaking from my heart.
Dmitry Orlov, I do not think that is the reason. It seems to me you are trying to be up to date with the current events, and this is to the detriment of your own ideas, interesting concepts, thoughts and original work. Which are unique and have brought you the recognition you deserve. That's just me though! I believe when someone does what he is good at and his heart is there, good times and success will come! (again)
Димитър Апостолов, the preoccupation with what you call "current events" is purely accidental. A couple of years ago, in attempting to breathe some life into my blog, I agreed to appear on Nima's YouTube channel. Since he only asked questions based on headlines in Western press (I saw no signs of any other preparation on his part) I was forced to pay attention to their lies and use my airtime to try to set the record straight. This approach turned out to be quite popular, for a time. After I couldn't take Nima's insipid questions any more and bid Nima adieu, I continued to pay attention to them as a matter of habit. It's a bad habit and I wish to give it up.
Я буду очень рада, потому что предпочитаю видео, которые могу слушать 😊 Ура! 🎉
I have looked forward to your texts exercising the part of my aging brain that deals with the written word. Be that as it may, I also enjoy the witty, dry and matter of fact video Orlov. Any chance of both? Would Mark Sloboda be an appropriate interlocutor?
I've been following your work for 2 decades, ever since the Peak Oil days, and I've always enjoyed your remarkable insights and dark humour. Switching to video is a step back in my view, reading is so much faster than watching a conversation. But if it helps you in reaching a wider audience, who am I to complain? So I'm curious what you will come up with.
I was not aware of your existance untill after the SMO started, and it must have been some time after I was made aware of Andrei Martyanov through Gonzalo Lira i think. But I instantly loved listening to your bizarrely sharp takes on things. You, Andrei and Alex Krainer are probably my top three that i like listening to, and I'm naturally looking forward to hearing more of you. Alex Krainer is mostly delving in financial stuff, with a severe bone to pick with UK and the City of London bankers. He's been increasingly often talked about the coming financial collapse lately, and it hooks neatly up with your focus on collapse as well. He's even talked about making friends with farmers lately. He just didn't take it as far as you yet, talking about making friends with bad people with guns. So I'm just gonna suggest maybe Alex Krainer as a potential guy to have a chat with. Looking forward to hearing more of you.
I’m of the older generation and I find that your articles are much easier for me, videos take too much time to watch. Keep up the great work I’ve followed you for many a year.
Hi Dmitry, I have been following you for a few years, first when I resided in Canada and now in Bulgaria. With the latest EU brain excrement sanctions, I have to read this blog trough VPN. I realy enjoyed your interviews on YouTube with the verious channels and I know you are not a fan but I always looked forward to these. Anyhow, let us know what your next step are and please keep doing the good work!
Boris Kolev, Boosty is not officially blocked by national internet service providers or government regulators in any European Union country. The domain loads normally across EU member states. No need to use VPN.
Dmitry, on your worst possible day you are immeasurably wittier and more incisive than the majority of your fellow humans will ever be. Maybe do some talks with Stas Krapivnik @MrSlavikman, hard to imagine that would not be pure unscripted gold, and maybe enjoyable for you both as well. My deepest thanks for the first 20 years, been lurking all along the way and will continue wherever you go.
Congratulations, Dmitry! That your no nonsense blogging continues for another 20 years! In whatever format you see fit.
Thanks for the transcript, I'll read that. Too hard to watch videos with our current internet.
