Devlog: week 8
Hi (:
I’m slowly easing back into work — slowly and being kind to myself. Jumping straight into something big after almost a week of full-on seal mode — and after New Year you have to catch up on sleep and spend a few days wrapped in a blanket cocoon, lazily snacking on the leftovers of the feast — would be a bit too much xD
So I did a bit of polishing on Dem’s facial animations:
- Tweaked the jaw movement when opening the mouth with different emotions
- Added a bit of physics to the eye highlights and eyelashes
- Separated the parameters for the left and right eye opening, as well as left and right eyebrow movement — now she can express more lively and interesting emotions
After that, I decided to tackle head turns, but for now I’m doing them in Photoshop rather than Live2D. That way I can have a reference and calmly figure out what goes where and how things should deform, and then transfer it into animation using it as a guide — without overloading my brain with two tasks at once.
I sketched out a side turn:
I’m not super happy with how it looks yet, so I’ll set this angle aside and look at it later with fresh eyes. For now, I’ll start on up and down head turns.
Hopefully next week I’ll be able to show how it all turns out :D
