Not every week I have something to show, and this is one of those weeks where progress doesn’t look like moving forward, but more like adjusting the course.

I’m still easing back into work and definitely not operating at full capacity yet. Sometimes recovery takes more time than it seems at first glance, even to myself. That’s something I need to keep in mind and not rush things, so I don’t push myself too hard and burn out.

So this week was mostly spent reviewing what I’ve already done, going through my to-do lists again, and making notes.

There was one important addition to the story: I realized that the prologue, as I originally planned it, doesn’t really fulfill its storytelling purpose. Because of that I decided the prologue needs a small intro, and visually that means one more 3D background and a simple animation (no characters). The script changes are still just notes from a brainstorming session with dear friends, but I’ve already settled on which direction to take (:

So there’s more work now, which adds to the load — especially at my current pace — but it does slowly move forward, and that’s what matters. I’m also trying hard not to expand things more than necessary, because I know how easy it is to fall into “I should add this here, expand that there, polish this bit” and end up doing nothing at all. In this case, though, it really is needed. What would feel a bit cringey as a single line at the start of the prologue should work much better as a small introductory scene :D

I’ll say it again: one of the big perks of working solo is being able to switch tasks, instead of forcing yourself to do one thing until you start hating it.
