Devlog #7: Happy New Year!
A new year is coming (and for some of you it already has), which means it’s time to sum up the year that’s ending (=
Most importantly: I’ve started making a game! This is a big step for me, and in a way, a new chapter in my life. It’s terrifyingly exciting, and I really want to see it through to the end (:
At this stage, I have:
- A rough story outline and a general understanding of where everything should lead and what I want to convey
- A 3D scene for the first location about 40% done, with a list of required camera angles and why they’re needed
- A fully drawn but not yet animated sprite of Dem, the first character we’ll meet
- A dynamic location assembly system and movement between locations in Ren’Py
- An inventory system, item collection and item usage
- A “task list” mechanic — it still needs some polishing, but it works at a basic level
- The first puzzle, about 70% drawn and fully functional
- A rough promotion plan
It doesn’t sound like that much, but for just 5 weeks, it’s actually pretty solid, if you ask me :D
This week, with all the pre-New Year chaos and burning deadlines, I didn’t manage to get anything done, but I’m planning to get back to work around the 2nd–3rd.
And for now — Happy New Year, friends!
May it be full of joy, inspiration, luck, happiness, and wishes coming true!
Cheers 🥂
