"Our Time" | Технический пост | Technical Post | Episode 3 | #1

Hello everyone, my friends. Thank you so much for your support. Sending big hugs!
It's been a little over a week - I know. I was still finishing up the rendering of all the main story scenes... god, it was an absolute hell. But today I finally saved the very last scene for rendering!
Here is what we have so far:
- There will be around 1100 renders. And that's not counting the H-scene with Mira. Yes, I'm still debating whether it's actually needed in this specific episode.
- A couple of simple choices, just like I promised. Accordingly, a few scenes will be altered/expanded.
What do I not like?
As I mentioned before, we haven't had many scenes inside Mark's House previously, so it wasn't a big deal. But over the course of the third episode, I found a massive pile of problems. From textures to lighting. Ultimately, I just don't like how about 20% of the renders turned out. I messed up the quality quite a bit with overexposure. I re-rendered some stuff at the very beginning, but unfortunately, my strength has left me. I physically cannot redo a massive chunk of scenes right now.
BUT! Again, I will definitely fix this in future updates. There won't be any drastic visual changes, just improved overall quality.

After the release of this episode, I'll need to pay special attention to Mark's House. I have to rebuild a few things, just like I did with the Scrapyard. I want to close the issue with indoor and outdoor lighting once and for all. You might notice in the game that the light outside or inside the house sometimes falls at different angles depending on the time of day. It's not exactly a bug... Long story short, as you know, I'm still a beginner, I learn as I go, mostly by trial and error. And sometimes I discover really cool and useful features way too late.
It's highly likely that Mark and his crew will leave this house significantly earlier in the story than initially planned, without breaking the plot itself. The question of handling minor details throughout the GLOBAL storyline is still open. That's why when I start working on an episode, those tiny details start popping up and growing, and the episode expands massively in scale.
What now?
I'll rest for a day or two and then start putting the actual build together.
This includes: color correction and fixing renders in Photoshop, adding them to the engine; creating new DAZ 3D portraits for the current episode; coding, filling out and tweaking journal entries; picking music, SFX, and so on.

The next technical devlog will be out sooner. Coding itself only takes about 15% of the total episode development time. So I'll need a week or two for all of this. If I decide to go back and do the Mira scene, add a couple more days. I'll also share some info about the next episode in that post. It will be shorter than this one (I hope). And it will mostly take place outside of Mark's house. Which is another huge plus (for my sanity, god, haha).
So guys, hang in there and be patient just a little bit longer. Every single day I do nothing but work on the game so I can share it with you <3
Take care of yourselves, see you soon.
