Neidan 內丹 — Part II

Question
Where is the Original Cavity of Spirit (Ziqiao 紫竅) located?
Answer
It is situated at the Trikuta, the point between the eyebrows, extending inward to the center of the brain. Laozi called it the “Passage of Heaven and Earth” (Tiandi Men 天地門). Therefore, he advised practitioners to concentrate upon this center in order to realize the Self-Nature underlying all things.
Within this center resides a subtle point no larger than a grain of rice. It is the midpoint between Heaven and Earth within the human body, the Microcosm. It is the cavity of Prenatal Vitality (Xiantian Qi 先天氣).
Yet it is not sufficient merely to know its location, for the cavity itself does not include the wondrous Light of Original Nature (Benxing 本性), symbolized by the Circle and referred to by Confucius as Perfect Virtue (Ren 仁).
The Book of Changes (Yijing 易經) calls it the Limitless (Wuji 無極). The Buddha called it Perfect Enlightenment. Daoists refer to it as the Elixir of Immortality (Jindan 金丹), or Spiritual Light.

Master Chen Bing’s videos and his Kung Fu 陈冰大师的视频和他的功夫

“So fascinated by Master Chen Bing’s videos and his Kung Fu that I traveled to his school to learn from him. When I met him in real life, my admiration only grew. His presence is calm and composed, he is always gentle and kind, and he truly cares about everyone. Despite being extremely busy, he always smiles, speaks warmly to people, and never seems rushed or irritated. Realized that true Tai Chi is not just about external movements, but about developing deep inner qualities and making them part of who you are. From experienced masters, can immediately feel that inner peace and calmness coming from within — that is the true essence of practice.

Huangyan kungfu is a traditional Southern Chinese martial arts style, particularly associated with Fujian province. It is known for utilizing powerful close-range techniques, featuring clean, crisp, and sonorous movements often categorized as ancient boxing methods. The style emphasizes both physical and spiritual development through intense, focused training. Huangyan Kungfu is not merely a system of combat techniques, but a path of inner transformation, where the body is seen as a vessel for cultivating qi (气) and consciousness. From the perspective of Daoist internal alchemy (neidan, 内丹), the practice aims to harmonize the Three Treasures — jing (精), qi (气), and shen (神) — turning movement into a process of refinement and elevation of one’s inner nature. Through the lens of Chan Buddhism (禅), Huangyan Kungfu becomes a form of moving meditation: each action expresses emptiness (kong, 空) and presence in the “here and now.” Freedom from attachment to form and outcome allows the practitioner to act spontaneously and naturally, following the principle of wu wei (无为) — effortless action, from which true effectiveness arises. Key Characteristics of Huangyan Martial Arts: Origin: Southern China (Fujian region). Style Features: Powerful, close-quarters combat with rapid movements. Techniques: Often features "ancient boxing" methods (古拳法) with a focus on clean, precise techniques (e.g., strong, direct punches). Appearance: Movements are typically described as both physically and spiritually engaging (形神兼备), often characterized as "rustling" or energetic.
