3 Days to Go (Max): WE 0.16 Incoming
Hello, fans of WE: Another World.
We’ve got good news for you. The release is just around the corner. Within the next 1–3 days, we’ll finally launch the new version of the game, which we’re currently testing.
Testing has been a bit… challenging, since we’ve added a lot of new mechanics and menus, which means many different variables that must sync properly with the gameplay. But we’re almost at the finish line.
While we wait out these last few days before release, we’d like to show you another video featuring some of the new menus from our game. In the video, you’ll see the abilities menu, alchemy, inventory, as well as shop windows from the mall in the real-world part of the game.
We decided to redesign the abilities window. Originally, it was planned to look closer to standard RPG games, where abilities are unlocked through study. In our game, we’ll be using a specialization experience progress mechanic. What does this mean?
Basically, it works similarly to Skyrim. Your MC will have several main specialization paths. Once you choose one, you’ll start gaining experience in it by using that specialization’s abilities. Your specialization level will go from 1 to 100 (or maybe higher—we haven’t decided yet), and as you level up, new abilities in that specialization will unlock.
At the start, each specialization will have one ability, but every 5 or 10 levels, you’ll unlock a new one.
Sounds fun, right? Of course, at this stage it’s only partially implemented since we don’t yet have a full combat system or permanent enemies for the MC to fight. Buuut…
In the next update (after this one), we’ll add mob farming and plenty of new events, which will fully utilize the mechanics and menus added in this update. So, what we’ve built now is something necessary that will pay off in the future.
For now though… we wait.
We’ll do our best to finish sooner, but we’re taking a maximum of 3 days to wrap up testing and prepare the update for release.
With love, teams K, S, and N.
Taffi
