News about the work on mods on 25.02.2026
Greetings to all! Breaker_oak is in touch. At the moment, no work is underway on mods and there are no plans in the near future. I decided to take a break, so if you're waiting for updates or new mods to be released, I apologize.
How long will it take me to get back to working on mods?
Maybe one or two months, maybe more. I don't know. But I hope that my vacation from mods will not be eternal.
Why did I decide to take a break?
Making mods is a hobby for me. But lately it has completely stopped bringing pleasure. Besides, I've lost interest in just playing Anomaly. The mods themselves are probably the reason for all this. The more I work on mods, the more new ideas and work I get. This led to the fact that I almost stopped playing Anomaly and spent my free time only on mods.
I started creating mods to make Anomaly better and more interesting (in my opinion). As a result, this led to the fact that the game, which seemed almost perfect to me at the beginning, only became further from ideal over time. And to make Anomaly the way I would like it to be, it took more ideas, more changes, more mods, more time, and so on...
As I gained experience from creating mods, I felt like I was capable of more now. And I wanted to create something more complicated, more global. But over time, I realized that just adding a few new mechanics to Anomaly wouldn't be enough. After all, this won't change the game much. And playing Anomaly in its usual form has become too boring for me. Each time you start a new game, complete standard tasks, and save money for better equipment...
The initial stage of the game can really be interesting when there is almost nothing. But once you get the best equipment and start making enough money, the game stops challenging you, which makes it less interesting. The goals that the game set for you have already been fulfilled, but what should you do next?
What are my plans for the future?
Anomaly is a great game with lots of mechanics and modding features. But, in my opinion, it lacks integrity. The authors of the various builds are doing quite a lot of work to add and combine a large number of mods, but it's still the same Anomaly.
I want to transform Anomaly in a slightly different way. Not just make another single mod that adds new mechanics or create your own mod build, but do global work on Anomaly itself to make it feel like a full-fledged game. In what way? In short, with the help of new mechanics, balance changes, tasks, rewards, player progression and the plot in such a way that all this is organically interconnected. That is, to achieve a result that will make the player feel like a real stalker.
However, I will not dwell on this in detail now. This is the topic for the next post. I really have a lot of plans, but whether they will be implemented is unknown. It can take a lot of time and effort, but I don't have the motivation at the moment.
What about my less global plans?
Here we will talk about the mods that I wanted to release separately.
1) Radioactive Air. In the new update, I wanted to add dynamic radioactive and toxic air to locations so that after emissions, the air becomes more dangerous, and then gradually returns to normal.
2) System of toxins. In the next update, I planned to add the effect of artifacts that enhance chemical protection on the elimination of toxins from the body. And also add a new vomiting mechanic that can work with a certain chance with a large amount of toxins to partially get rid of intoxication in exchange for increased thirst and hunger.
3) Outfits and armor rebalance. In the next update, I wanted to address equipment damage immunity. This is a parameter that affects its wear and tear.
4) Diet system (I haven't thought of another name yet). A new mod that will make eating more important and force the player to eat different foods.
5) System of injuries and diseases (a new mod based on BHS). As the name implies, this mod will make treatment more difficult and different medications more in demand.
6) Rebalance artifacts (new mod). The artifacts in Anomaly are mostly useless. So I would like to fix this and make the use of artifacts more interesting.
7) Items rebalance. In the new update, I planned to slightly change the balance of medicines, food and drinks. Most of the work has been done for a long time, but the results during the tests showed that the new balance still needs to be finalized. In the same update, I wanted to make minor changes to crafting and tools, but most likely this will already be done in another update.
Summing up the results...
As you may have noticed, I really have a lot of plans. But now I don't want to do mods. There are too many ideas and upcoming work for which I have neither the strength nor the motivation. I hope that the rest from creating mods will not be too long and will allow me to return with renewed vigor.
