Continuing to talk about my works. Today's book is <address>

Я использую именно такое написание названия книги, играя с html-кодом, в котором тег <address> предназначен для хранения информации об авторе и может включать в себя любые элементы вроде ссылок, текста, выделения и т.д.

I use just such a spelling, playing with html code in which the <address> tag is designed to store information about the author and can include any elements like links, text, selections, etc.

Я начала этот проект с размышлений о природе памяти - насколько наши детские воспоминания зависят от того, кем мы являемся сегодня. И наоборот - насколько то, кем мы являемся сегодня, зависит от нашего прошлого.

I began this project by thinking about the nature of memory - how much our childhood memories depend on who we are today. And vice versa - how much of who we are today depends on our past.

Это странички из моего дневника - я делала заметки и наброски, пытаясь понять, как визуализировать свое переживание отрыва от прошлого. И здесь мне помог Жиль Делез, его концепция образа времени как кристалла подсказала, какими должны быть мои образы. 

These are pages from my diary - I was making notes and sketches, trying to figure out how to visualise my experience of breaking away from the past. And this is where Gilles Deleuze helped me, his concept of time as a crystal suggested what my images should be.

Вместо памяти, отсылающей исключительно к прошлому, я хотела удержать воспоминания о рождении памяти в тот момент, когда прошлое было еще настоящим.

Instead of memory referring exclusively to the past, I wanted to hold on to the recollection of the birth of memory at a time when the past was still present. 

Таким образом, память для меня является способом ведения рассказа - в своей книге я как бы заново создаю свою память, через образы, которые существуют на стыке прошлого и настоящего.

In this way, memory for me is a way of doing storytelling - in my book, it is as if I am re-creating my memory, through the images that exist at the intersection of past and present.

Если опять обратиться к Делёзу, в своей книге "Кино" он приводит описание «двуликого» образа — актуального и виртуального. Сейчас я особенно остро понимаю, как это происходит, когда актуальный, живой образ уходит в "зеркало", в фотографию и продолжает жить теперь на бумаге, в книге, приобретая другую самостоятельность. Делез описывает это в терминах двунаправленного движения по пленению и освобождению.

Referring again to Deleuze, in his book Cinema, he describes the "two-faced" image, the actual and the virtual. Now I realise particularly acutely how it happens when the actual, living image goes into a "mirror", into a photograph, and continues to live now on paper, in a book, acquiring another independence. Deleuze describes this in terms of a bidirectional movement of captivity and liberation.

Я хотела этой книгой рассказать себе о себе, потому что проходит время и каждый жизненный этап делает нас другими, а прошлое приобретает форму «кристалла», поскольку, как говорит Делез,  прошлое складывается не после настоящего, но одновременно с ним, и в каждое мгновение время удваиваивается на настоящее и прошлое или, иными словами, настоящему необходимо раздваиваться, следуя по двум несходным направлениям, одно из которых устремляется в будущее, а другое падает в прошлое.

I wanted to tell myself about myself with this book because time passes and each stage of life makes us different and the past takes the form of a "crystal" because, as Deleuze says, the past is not formed after the present but simultaneously with it, and in each moment time doubles into the present and the past or, in other words, the present needs to bifurcate, following two divergent directions, one of which rushes into the future and the other falls into the past.

Книга была реализована в 2015 году и принимала участие в различных выставках и фестивалях, на конкурсе Book Dummy Award в Касселе она вошла в шорт-лист, а в конкурсе Unveil'd в Великобритании заняла первое место и, в качестве награды, на следующий год была проведена персональная выставка

А совсем недавно проект <адрес> был представлен в музее Набокова (Санкт-Петербург) в рамках коллективной выставки "Нарушенные связи восстанавливаются вновь", посвященной работе с семейной памятью  Подробности и больше фотографий здесь.

And more recently, the <address> project was presented at the Nabokov Museum (St Petersburg) as part of the collective exhibition "Broken connections are restored again", dedicated to working with family memory Details and more photos here.

В целом, я довольна как сложилась судьба этого проекта и мне вдвойне приятно что даже спустя, страшно подумать! - 8 лет он продолжает жить и у меня даже есть идеи по поводу новой выставки.
