Sisters.. Five women and my Collection no.6: Part III
Continuing the theme of the women behind my sixth collection, the turn came to the bags. I have already written that this collection is filled with female images, which six years ago became the starting point for rethinking my work. Each of these fictionalized and real-life characters made up a complete picture of this rebranding. Each of them served as a source of inspiration, attraction, and research, which is why one of the products is named after each. And despite the passage of time, I still turn to these characters, who have become a kind of code for my creativity. Each of them embodies the mood, thought and task of my work. Six years ago, the Penny Dreadful series had a huge impact on my work and on myself. And three characters from this project became part of my Collection no.6.
Evelyn Poole and Evelyn Bag
The insurmountable conflict between the otherworldly and personal will is something comparable to my own enmity between the desire to create and personal comfort. And I still believe that the third episode of the second season of the series is no less significant for culture than Merezhkovsky’s description of the Sabbath. This post is dedicated to Evelyn Poole and Joan Clayton.
Joan Clayton and Joan Bag
Family ties can be equally a gift and a curse. We are similar, but we are different. And it is impossible to get rid of this burden. This connection does not end until death. And even if, as you thought, you broke all ties, your blood will remind you of this every day. We are similar, but we are different. Two witches who belonged to the same coven became sworn sisters. One turned to the dark side in order to gain eternal youth, power and beauty, the other did not betray herself. And despite the hardships of her existence, she remains true to her principles and belief in dignity. The very dignity that saves everyone who decides to oppose themselves to evil. Both women are divided in their faith, but their connection is still strong. Family is an amazing mixture of pretense, lies and hypocrisy..
