alonna vet, hi, yes, you need to place crib mattress into the crib and it will be functional, you also can use playmat, rug and changing table :) toys are sadly not functional because they're too big to fit in hand and too small to be a big toy 😅 also toddlers can use toddler bed but it doesn't have proper animation
