What is shamanism for warriors?
Warriors speak of shamanism as a magical, mysterious bird which has paused in its flight for a moment in order to give man hope and purpose. Warriors live under the wing of that bird which they call the bird of wisdom; the bird of freedom.
C. Castaneda
From the point of view of Nagualism, the desire for knowledge and wisdom is the magic that occurs in a person and shifts his attention. It is knowledge and wisdom, sincere love for knowledge and diligence in work and labor that are able to expand the range of the first attention thanks to the emanations of the energy cocoon that were previously the second attention, i.e. the area of the unknown.
In terms applicable to an ordinary person of everyday life, the above can be understood as a call to study the mysteries of one's own intellectual and spiritual constructions.
Students from Castaneda's party said that Carlos's books are a call. And a huge number of people, perhaps, perceived this call in the plane of using various substances that kill the human body, nature and dignity, or dubious practices of out-of-body travel and lucid dreaming.
The call of Castaneda's books was in the deep understanding of the fact that man is a harmonious being, that there is no point in engaging in lucid dreaming if there is complete unconsciousness in wakefulness. And also that man needs to doubt the finality of the picture of describing himself and the world around him. Each of us must, according to Nagualism, perceive ourselves as a mystery and see the world as a mystery.
This is precisely what learning is. It is in learning that man acquires immortality.
