Attitude to life
In C. Castaneda's book "Eagle's Gift" the author writes:
Florinda said that I would have a hard time remembering all that had transpired because I was indulging in my rationality...It was then that I turned to dona Soledad and begged her to drive me out of my indulging; I told her that if she failed she should kill me. I did not want to live in the meagerness of my rationality. "It's wrong to say that," Florinda said. "We're warriors, and warriors have only one thing in mind - their freedom. To die and be eaten by the Eagle is no challenge. On the other hand, to sneak around the Eagle and be free is the ultimate audacity."
The attitude of the initiates to life and death is very interesting, considering that life for the warrior-spirit is not a problem, not a sword of wisdom and not a series of gray days, but a challenge that one takes with reverence in order to become free and unite with one's Spirit.

To further understand this attitude, one should turn to the book of the twentieth century philosopher-initiate Manly. P. Hall in one of his books writes the following:
...The aspirant (to the fraternity) is asked: “What motivates you to take up the study of these arts and sciences? Do you have the greatest and all-consuming desire to selflessly serve humanity?" Some people answer these questions by saying, “I am willing to gladly die for the truth.” And then they hear in response: “This is not enough. Are you ready to live for the truth?"
There is an expression among philosophers: “Dying for the sake of humanity is a difficult test. But an even more difficult test is living for the sake of humanity.”
From the above, several conclusions can be drawn.
1. Ordinary everyday life, in the understanding of philosophers, is the most difficult test for every person, especially when this person offers one's life to the Altar of the Great Truth for the sake of serving the goodness and benefit of every person on this Earth. Life is a gift, a stage on which everyone builds their character by making the right choices and decisions every day. Ordinary human life is a sphere of magical knowledge, thanks to which a person is able to reveal the most sublime motives and principles in oneself and devote them to the Truth and the Great Good, which enriches everyone. Thanks to one's daily life, a person is able to get closer to the Gods and fill the Cosmos, being the embodiment of the Great Brotherhood, in which the Universes are equal to People.
That is why don Juan taught Castaneda that the magician does not waste a single second, directing all the Power and all the best that is in oneself to prepare for the meeting with Infinity. An ordinary person, immersed in one's dreams, lives like an immortal, wasting one's most precious moments on emptiness, filling one's life with emptiness. Therefore, an ordinary person is empty, but a magician is filled to the brim with feelings and power. The difference between an ordinary person and a magician is the attitude to life and the world. The first sees them as ordinary and dull. The second sees and knows that the World is the Greatest Mystery, and life is the Greatest Chance, which the magician uses to one's advantage.
The magician never exchanges one's life for emptiness and does not throw it away like a trump card in order to “get the kings.” The magician appreciates life in all its manifestations. And most of all in oneself.
2. In order to better understand and perceive any philosophy, including Nagualism, which C. Castaneda wrote about, you need to study something else besides Nagualism. You need to read living sources, study them as much as possible. Every philosophy is a pearl that shines with its light among the sands of everyday life. A person’s task is not to throw away any of them. This is the only way everyone can get one millimeter closer to the Truth. And then the beauty of any philosophy will reveal to the disciple the understanding of the Unified Knowledge, the perception of which is accessible to few.
