Hi Mark unfortunately I have felt ever since Russia constitutionally liberated the 4 regions, that they included Kherson and Zaporizhzhia because they figured that if they can't fully take those areas then they could use them as negotiating terms. What I mean is that Russia, in negotiations would "give" those 2 territories to Ukraine in exchange for Ukranian (western) recognition of Donetsk, Luhansk and Crimea as Russian territory. This scenario sucks, as I think Russia needs everything east of the river including Odessa, but I have always felt this might end up being the result of the war - Russia only getting Donetsk and Luhansk. Curious to know what someone who knows more than me thinks about my theory?

Hi Mark, how do you see Russia’s relationship with the global south? Many see Russia as a hero of sorts, having successfully stood up to the US hegemony. Do you see a strategic value in this for Russia? Also, is there immigration to Russia from the global south?
