life update
Yesterday my mother was discharged from the surgical department. Her lung has fully expanded and x-rays show no more serious problems. The attending physician confirmed the success of the procedure and the drainage from the pleural cavity was removed. Unfortunately, she still has a fever and feels unwell in a way that is difficult to explain. These could probably be side effects from her oncology chemotherapy or a residual effect from the procedure itself. Now she has to take painkillers. Since her condition was no longer acute, I decided to take her home and continue treatment here. We were very depressed by the hospital conditions; we had trouble getting enough sleep there due to various extraneous noises. The doctor prescribed a course of antibiotics so as not to worsen the lung condition. and a short course of glucocorticoids to ease the remaining pain in the hypochondrium. The course of medication will take about a week, I hope she will feel better soon.
