"Before Gallivanter became a byword for overpriced soccer mom battering rams, there was the Peacemaker. Conceived in an era of brown cord jackets and genuine optimism, the brief was simple: build one vehicle that can do it all. And for a glorious, unprofitable decade, it did. It became the brilliantly impractical "do-it-all" SUV. Need a light weight 2 door for a weekend in Grapeseed? A crew-cab hardtop to ferry the heist team? A pickup bed for stolen bullion? It was all the same parts bin. All powered by an unkillable 2.5l inline-4 diesel that was slower than government bureaucracy but would outlive the chassis, your grandchildren, and the sun. So revered for its go-anywhere grit that the British military bought them in bulk, a fact every owner will tell you right before they ask for a jump start. It truly could do everything, just never efficiently or without leaking a little oil on your driveway as a souvenir."
