Hello everyone, and thanks for checking out my page!
I’m Haptales, a beginner French developer, and I’ve finally found the courage and motivation to start my very first project!
Writing in English, rendering with Koikatsu, and bringing everything to life in Ren'py are all new experiences for me, so please bear with me if you spot a few hiccups along the way^^  
About RomCom: Divergence
Follow the life of our protagonist as he embarks on his new life, meets a variety of beautiful ladies, and discovers that things aren't quite what they seem—
Wait, scratch that. You know the drill already, right?
Start a new game, choose a name, and complete the story while unlocking all the endings.
Collect every heroine to 100% that gallery, and ruin the life of every other male character in the process.
Stuck at an obstacle that feels impossible to overcome? No worries— just follow a walkthrough or even use cheat codes!
Does this remind you of someone?
Well, this story is all about the characters whose lives get turned upside down by that same someone.
This visual novel will be divided into episodes, each featuring its own timeline and protagonist (male or female).
Release Schedule
Since this is my first project of this nature, it’s hard to provide an accurate estimate at the moment.
Devlogs should come every 3-4 weeks.
I aim to release a new chapter every 2 months, but this will also depend on my full-time job.

Chapter 5 - Scene Scribbles

Hello everyone!
Welcome to this third edition of Scene Scribbles!
Scene Scribbles are a perk for Tier 2+ supporters, allowing you to leave your indelible mark somewhere in the next chapter.

Chapter 5 - Devlog 3 (Back from Hiatus)

Hello everyone!

In the last devlog, I informed you that due to personal circumstances, the game would be going on hiatus for the duration of March.
I'm happy to announce that after one hell of a month, I'm finally back to working on RomCom: Divergence on a somewhat regular basis!

What's Been Done?

Not much, since I could only take the few moments that life allowed me, but still enough to warrant a (small) devlog!
(Note: More details below)
  • Rewrote parts of Chapter 5 and added new events
  • Worked on some visual assets (not quite renders yet)
  • Started working on character outfits

Chapter 5 'Rewriting'

I didn't have time to do everything I had planned yet.
For now, we've gone from 24 to 28 events... though I actually added five and merged two old ones together.
I also fleshed out a lot of the existing events.
Chapter 5 will now lean a bit more into slice-of-life.
Patch content should be plentiful, both with the planned H-scenes and what will be "sprinkled" into regular events.

March Hiatus Reminder

Hi everyone,
Just a quick reminder that the March hiatus starts today and will last until April, as mentioned in the previous devlog.
During this time, billing will be paused, as I won't be able to work on the game regularly.
I'll still try to focus on a few improvements:
  • Refining Chapter 5's writing and pacing
  • Mapping out scenes for upcoming events
  • Working on the new character outfits
If I manage to make enough progress, I'll post a short devlog toward the end of the month to keep you updated.

Chapter 5 - Devlog 2 (+ Hiatus Announcement)

Hello everyone!

Another month, another devlog.
But before talking about Chapter 5, let’s get the bad news out of the way first!

March Hiatus

Without going into personal details, February was kind of a difficult month, and I’ll need to spend some time fixing a couple of things.
While I still plan to set some time aside for the game, I can’t say I’ll be able to do so regularly…
That’s why I felt the need to announce a hiatus for the duration of March.
Of course, billing for supporters will be paused during that time.
And I’ll keep you informed when I get back to a normal schedule.

What's Been Done?

  • Filled the Gallery with all current renders (minus layered assets)
  • Fixed a few issues with the Gallery’s code
  • Chapter 5 writing (mostly) finished

About the gallery

Last time, I said the Gallery was fully functional…
But after starting to add more renders, I encountered a few logical issues and had to revamp the whole thing.

Chapter 5 - Devlog 1

Hello everyone!

It's been... already a full month since the public release of Chapter 4, so here comes the first devlog for Chapter 5!

What a year, huh?

So yeah, before listing everything I've done, I'd like to point out that Chapter 5 development is already throwing any kind of schedule I had out the window.
It's been a month since December 24th, and I spent the first week working on supporter content...
And the second week working on my new Discord.
So please keep in mind that it's been a little less than two weeks of actual work on the game for me.

What's Been Done? (Summary)

  • Image Gallery and Replay Gallery
  • Added a language selector in Preferences (no translation for now)
  • Added a Replay menu for Special Events
  • Customized the Music Room
  • Added (optional) summaries before starting new content (WIP)
  • Some UI changes in the Preferences and Credits menus (color, outline, etc.)
  • Added Discord to the support pages on the main menu
  • Added a few minor things to the save spot
  • Reorganized the Prologue's renders
  • Fixed some typos (thanks to Bangyongguk97)
Finally, the Chapter 5 events draft is complete, with 24 events and 11 patch scenes planned.

Chapter 4 - Review: New Year Edition!

Hello everyone, and happy New Year!

Things sure moved a bit since last year, huh.
Let's hope it goes in the right direction~
It's now been a bit more than two weeks since Chapter 4's public release, and we're getting closer to the end of this first episode.
Only Sayuri's chapter left, plus the epilogue... and finally, the Class Council!
I originally planned to reach all that within the first year, but yeah...
Damn those Koikatsu skirts!

This public release contains Episode 1: Chapter 4 and the Christmas event.
Thank you for your support, and merry Christmas! (Maybe not?)

Changelog:

  • 1,284 renders (´∀｀；)
  • 2 simple animations
  • Special event: Christmas 2025 (51 renders, 140 layered assets)
  • 100+ layered assets used for dynamic scene composition
  • Replaced 91 renders from Chapter 3
