71: Membership Share / Pie
A membership share is essentially a portion of ownership or participation a person holds in a coop or collective enterprise. It gives the holder a say in decisions and a right to part of the cooperative’s income, reflecting both financial and participatory involvement - as well as being entitled to the literal part of the money pie. Unlike public company shares, these are typically non-tradable and tied to active membership and internal rules.
In many Eastern European countries, such shares are called "пай"(pronounced pie - surprisingly enough, its history isn't a reference to the simplicity of the pie chart, but going back to the Ottoman Turkish word with the same pronunciation which translates into "portion, share")
