A certain degree of free time to focus on various Gabi-centric projects in the physical world... thay may or may not involve printing and shipping!

Gabital 24: Taxes (Really wanted to post this on Halloween, too><)

Taxes are compulsory payments levied on businesses and individuals by the state to finance its functions.
Disclaimer alert: Translator person is still very sick at the moment, so quality may vary. Will come back to this strip later to check for improvements, suggested or otherwise^^
Oh, I so sympathize! 😢
That's interesting. In my country, small earners (like these goblins) don't have to carry a 'corporate' label, so their operating profits and wages or mostly tied together and the tax is significantly reduced. Only businesses with gross profits of over a million per year need to register as a cooperation. I kind of assumed it's like that in most countries but maybe we are the outliers.
Gabriel Meilikhov, If you are referring to CIP, that is mostly true - at least as far as I know. But even as a small business you have to calculate VAT and you are liable for Income Tax. Both taxes are mandatory items in your annual tax declaration.
Gabriel Meilikhov, Small businesses are certainly a modern thing, and we do have various levels of such entities in Russia as well. However, I'm assuming author went with the "default" corporation structure here due to it being easier and the setting (probably) not having advanced to self-employed businesses and the like yet.
Although it's worth noting that should the author have gone the other route, Gabi is still at a level of having an employee other than herself, which already adds other payments - but considering her approach to running business, she would've gone for nothing less than a cooperative with Falke anyway, which limits their business structure considerably...
Now that they have earnings, and some savings, I hope they can get a loan to buy the property do they don't need to pay that sleezy boss any rent
Darkened Shadow,
People really do be hating on Chief, eh xD
"tax depreciation" is the magic spell Gabi has to learn now!
Odion Khons, She's a gobbo, should've specced evasion!
I love sankey diagrams.
Ralph S. (Assistant to the Emperor of Borgo), I find myself too lazy to do even the bare graphic spread when it's certainly needed... but yes, these particular ones changed my mind a bit xD
About the translation: it all reads fine except (maybe) the last panel.
.
"...can Gabi... DO. NOT. THE. TAXES."
.
This sounds funny.
.
To recommend anything better, I'd have to know the intent.
.
Maybe:
option 1:
"...Gabi can... NOT. DO. THE. TAXES." (so just changing the position of not.)
option 2.
"...can Gabi... NOT. DO. THE. TAXES?" (changing can and adding question mark.) But also, it could be her brains are scrambled and she can't talk well anymore.
Ralph S. (Assistant to the Emperor of Borgo), It's... a bit of a reference, you might say xD
"Really wanted to post this on Halloween" Because taxes are spooky.
I find the hand writing font to require a good amount of effort to figure out.
Ralph S. (Assistant to the Emperor of Borgo), Will take that into account!
Suggestion: In the lesson on the bottom, put '''Taxes''' in bold for consistency with the styling in other issues.
jecowa, Will do! Thank you for any suggestions and feedback - the earlier strips are getting an overhaul once we start approaching the resolution of the main gabital story arc - and I'm definitely pulling on those suggestions for both the strips and the text^^
Gabital, The resolution of the main story arc sounds exciting. It will be fun to see Chief's plan to crush Gabi come to fruition.
