Gabital 19: Subject of labor

Subject of labour is everything said labour is applied to in the process of production. It's the materials, be they in crude form or pre-fabricated(templates, dollies, billets etc.)
Subject of labor(#19) and means of labor(#18) are the two parts that comprise the means of production(#6).
love the callback to #18 and #6
Darkened Shadow, So far the comic's one single story, even though many of the strips can be used without any context^^
And according to the author, the arc's far from finished xD
The emperor has the following message:
.
I see on the Russian page there are 31 comics.
.
Could you tell us, how many hours it took to make all of them (or on average, how many hours does it take to make a comic?) Roughly speaking.
.
And how much does a graphic artist get paid in Russia per hour?
.
As I understand it, you are not necessarily the original creator, so maybe you can forward and translate the emperor's questions when possible.
.
Edit: the spacing gets removed when posting, so I must add dots so the formatting doesn't get terrible.
Ralph S. (Assistant to the Emperor of Borgo), Hey there. Yeah, boosty formatting is painge...
.
1. The Artist's saying "10-12 hours daily for 7 days, so around 70-84 hours per page". That's... quite a lot more than I expected, honestly.
.
2. That's a difficult question. It varies GREATLY, factoring different jobs and different artists. Duende(the artist) isn't currently working as an artist, so that question doesn't apply to him. An educated guess would put it at around 5$ per hour on a "stable" job, but most graphic designers shun those xD
This is where the whole capitalist criticism part breaks down a little bit in the fantasy setting, because Chief actually does do work whereas the bourgeoisie pay someone else to do all that management for them.
Awoo Awoo, Chief is... tricky - at least until his social status remains ambiguous. If we're talking pure Marx - then yes, his class is defined, and it becomes rather simplistic in the presence of a "good actor" bourgeoisie. Then again, we're in 2026, and critique doesn't have to adhere to specific set of views - albeit still holding some of its values as foundational.
Yes I'm not saying it's bad. Just interesting to see some limitations of the fantasy setting.
