James Valentine
I'm slowly going through overhaul of all of my male OCs. And the next one up is: James Edward Valentine.
A 36 y.o. police commissioner in Chicago, one of the youngest to occupy that rank. He has been commissioned after cracking down onto a money laundering ring involving certain politicians and gangs from the southern part of the city.
His personal principle is that every criminal needs to be held accountable, no matter the station - which has earned him some powerful enemies. Alongside his badge, he's got a wristwatch engraved to read "James E. Valentine - Duty & Honor" - a souvenir of his policeman grandpa, killed on duty, gifted by his father.
A year ago, his fiancee has left him, tired of getting sidelined by his job. Now his life is duty, coffee and daily jogs along the Michigan lake's shore. The only person he trusts in this world is his former mentor, retired detective Frank Malone.
James knows the Chicago's winding streets like the back of his own hand. He doesn't shy away from feeding the journos if it creates the right kind of resonance and personally participate in sting operations, leading by example. His end goal is to create an internal audit department and root out the corruption, but every step of his way is an uphill battle.
James Valentine staunchly believes that law is equal for everyone - and will do his best to make this belief ring true, no matter the cost.
