News about working on mods 13.05.2026

The development of a new mod, System of Injuries and Diseases (SID), based on the Body Health System mod, has begun. This will be a modified version of BHS with redesigned and enhanced healing mechanics.
What is planned?
1) The first step is to modify some existing mechanics in BHS.
1.1) Remove the dependence of healing body parts on temporary health. In other words, make it so that medications that actually heal do so without first needing to use an item that adds temporary health (this has already been done).
1.2) Change the balance of medications that restore health or add temporary health (this has already been done, but with the addition of new healing mechanics, it is likely that the new balance will need to be redesigned).
1.3) Remove instant healing of body parts after using medications. Instead, replace the instant healing effect with a long-lasting one. The strength and duration of the effect will be based on the actual properties of the item, which are specified in its config (this has already been implemented as of this writing).
1.4) Change the maximum amount of health for body parts and the damage they deal. Due to the change in healing mechanics, the player should be able to take more damage on body parts to avoid having to heal during combat (this has already been implemented).
2) Add the mechanics of injuries.
2.1) When you take damage, there is a chance that you will suffer an injury. An injury will reduce the maximum health level of the injured part of your body. The penalty to your health level will depend on the severity of the injury. To treat an injury, you will need to use not only medications that restore health, but also additional items such as alcohol for disinfection, a sewing kit for stitching deep wounds, a bandage to prevent further bleeding, or a tourniquet.
2.2) The injury will also cause pain until it fully heals. If painkillers are not used, the pain level will constantly increase. The more injuries the player has and the more severe they are, the higher the pain level will be. Once a certain threshold is reached, the pain will become unbearable, significantly affecting mental health (or causing the player to lose consciousness, I have not yet decided).
2.3) Untreated injuries, depending on their severity, can lead to complications if they are ignored or not treated. These complications may include infection if the wound is not disinfected, or bleeding if the wound is not stitched or bandaged.
3) Add disease mechanics.
3.1) Infection was already mentioned in paragraph 2.3. Unsterilized injuries can lead to an increase in infection. A high level of infection can be fatal, so it is important to use antibiotics to combat infection when treating wounds.
3.2) Radiation sickness: Prolonged exposure to radiation can lead to the development of radiation sickness. Depending on the severity, radiation sickness can have a negative impact on health and may result in death if it is not treated with anti-radiation medications and the exposure to radiation is not stopped during the treatment process.
3.3) Rabies virus: Mutant attacks can lead to infection with this deadly virus. The virus does not kill immediately and does not manifest itself in any way, but when symptoms begin to appear, it may be too late. Regular health checks with a medic and the use of a vaccine after being bitten can prevent the development of the virus and ensure a peaceful death.
There are many more ideas for diseases, so this is just a minimal list of what is planned. I would also add a mental disorder caused by psi anomalies and controller attacks, which would lead to funny hallucinations that confuse the player.
When will this mod be ready for its first publication?
As you may have noticed, I have big plans for this mod. Given the amount of work that needs to be done and the fact that I am not a programmer (I have never written code or studied programming before creating mods for Anomaly), and that implementing SID will likely be more technically challenging than my previous projects, it is likely that the development of the first version will take a long time. It could be a matter of weeks or even months, depending on my determination and motivation.
If the development of the first version of System of injuries and diseases (SID) takes too long, can we expect updates to other mods?
I would like to focus on developing this mod right now, so I'm unlikely to work on any other project at the same time. However, it's possible that the challenges of developing SID will force me to temporarily switch to another mod. If there are any changes, you will be informed through the news posts.
