Hi! I’m a guitar player, and I’m building Ambrola, my own firmware for the Dirtywave M8 Model:02.
The M8 is one of the best music devices out there, a complete pocket studio. But it’s a tracker, and for recording guitar a tracker workflow isn’t the most comfortable. So I’m making a different take on it: tracks running left to right like in a classic DAW, effects you can reorder and put on any track, drums from samples, a few synths, MIDI and much more use of the touchscreen. All of it is built around recording electric and bass guitar, away from the laptop.
Ambrola is written from scratch on open source libraries. It’s unofficial and not affiliated with or endorsed by Dirtywave. I have a lot of respect for the people who made the M8, and Ambrola uses no code, sounds or presets from their firmware.
How it works here: when a new version is ready, supporters get it first, and three months later it’s free for everyone. Your support gives me more time to work on it.
The project is in development, and I’ll post progress here. As with any custom firmware, installing it is at your own risk.
