About

WarpNet is a decentralized, peer-to-peer social network inspired by Twitter, built with Go. It runs without central servers, using Noise protocol for inter-node communication and built-in local storage. WarpNet is censorship-resistant, scalable, and fully open-source.

Warpnet ✔️ v0.7.265-dev released!
Moderation
- Automatic, network-run content moderation. Report a tweet or profile and the network's moderator nodes fetch the content themselves, run it through a local Llama Guard model, and shadow-ban what violates the rules — no central moderator, no data sent off the network, and the author isn't notified of the ban.
- Verdicts now take ~2 seconds instead of ~30 minutes — switching to the Llama Guard 3 1B model cut classification time by orders of magnitude, so reports are acted on almost immediately instead of sitting for half an hour.
- You can now report from Android, not just the desktop client.
- Reports no longer vanish silently: a failed fetch used to be treated as an "empty tweet" and the report was quietly dropped — now genuinely reported tweets actually reach moderation, and the real reason for any failure is visible in the logs.
- "Report sent" is shown only when the report was actually published — no more false confirmations.
Fediverse
- Mastodon/Fediverse profiles can now be viewed and read directly from Warpnet through the built-in ActivityPub gateway.
- It's immediately clear which profiles aren't native: bridged (non-Warpnet) profiles now carry a clear, dismissible warning that their content is moderated by their home server's admins, not by Warpnet.
Reliability
- Reply threads load in full across nodes: replies authored on another node no longer go missing or show up blank — the thread is pulled from the root tweet author's node.
- Fewer dropped connections: peer anti-spoofing no longer kicks legitimate nodes (including the Fediverse gateway) off the network.
- The dashboard/business node no longer stalls: requests are handled concurrently, so one slow operation doesn't block the rest; cleaner login/logout.

Android app released!

Warpnet ✔️ v0.7.0-dev — Android client released, plus a big feature drop!
download APK
Warpdroid — the Android client. Pair your phone to your desktop node by scanning a QR code, and the phone becomes a thin libp2p client that talks to your node over an encrypted private network. Everything the desktop UI does is there: home feed with quote tweets rendered as nested cards, notifications with mentions and follow-request tabs, direct messages, bookmarks, profile pages with avatars and stats, in-app search. Compose tweets, reply, retweet (plain or with comment), like, bookmark, block, mute, follow, edit, delete — all from the phone.
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Warpnet is not vibecoded or neuroslopped. The base of Warpnet was implemented manually (by me - Vadim), the base of Warpdroid is a Tusky - Android client for Mastodon which was heavily refactored for Warpnet needs. Author (Vadim) uses AI only for trivial boilerplating tasks to prevent his own burning out. Thank you for understanding.
✔️ v0.6.241-dev released:
Chores and huge frontend refactoring.
✔️ v0.6.44-dev released:
Built a SOCKS5 proxy for Telegram over Warpnet.
Right now the traffic flow looks like this:
Telegram traffic → routed to a WarpNet node in Moscow → re-encrypted and forwarded to another node in Frankfurt → decrypted and sent to Telegram servers.
The key point is that the transport between Warpnet nodes is fully encrypted and indistinguishable, making this segment effectively invisible to DPI-based censorship.
If you’re running Warpnet, consider deploying your own bootstrap nodes on Russian hosting providers to improve connectivity and network resilience inside the region.

✔️ v0.6.0-dev released:
Implemented Conflict-free Replicated Data Types (CRDT) consensus for tweet statistics
to achieve eventual consistency of tweet engagement metrics across the network.
Likes, retweets, and view counters are now replicated and merged safely between peers without requiring a centralized authority.
✔️ v0.5.153-dev released:
- support of MacOS universal release build;
- other minor chores.
✔️ v0.5.139-dev released:
- speed up discovery;
- fix moderation bugs;
- other minor chores.
✔️ v0.5.111-dev released:
- refactor and simplify discovery;
- fix missing node id auth bug;
- upgrade badgerdb to v4;
- upgrade node repo according to db new version;
- refactor and complete following logic;
- drop IPFS;
- other minor chores.
