Mariya Voronina  

      Hello! I am Mariya Voronina, the author of unique nesting dolls.

   I was born into a family of artists in the city of Sergiev Posad, Moscow Region. Our small town Sergiev Posad is the birthplace of the first matryoshka.

   From early childhood, drawing was my favorite pastime, for which I was ready to spend long hours.

  I drew my first matryoshka at the age of 12. Working on a matryoshka takes a lot of time. It is a complex creative process from an idea to its implementation.

   Basically, my nesting dolls are different from traditional ones. I carefully consider the choice of plot, the construction of a harmonious multi-figured composition, the choice of color combinations and ornaments. Some works are unique and are made in a single copy. I can also do a repeat of the work at the request of the customer.

   My main source of inspiration is my children. I watch how they grow, how they sincerely and admiringly perceive the world, how sincere and pure their love is.

   Another inexhaustible source of inspiration for me is nature. I love walking in the forest, admiring the beauty of the trees, lighting, listening to the birds singing and taking a break from the bustle of the city. This summer I moved to live by the sea and I am very happy about it. The sea also inspires and calms me.

    I try to go outside several times a week and make sketches of people resting on a bench in the shade of trees, near the sea, at bus stops, just random passers-by. I need to make my drawing very quickly, trying to catch movement, posture, character. It also inspires me a lot and helps to better draw a human figure on a matryoshka doll.

   I really like to create new nesting dolls and share with people the beauty of the world and the little joys that are imperceptibly present in our lives, creating a feeling of happiness and harmony in the soul.
