At nine the depot gates finally open, and right behind them, in a tiny room with a window onto the tracks, sits Anatoly: a stamp, an ink pad and a calendar from last year that nobody bothered to take down. He won't take the crate without the waybill, so you sign where it says "courier", legibly, and he brings the stamp down hard enough to shake the counter:
