About

What was it like to live in the Soviet Union? What's it like in Russia? Let's find out together.

Monthly Postcards — July

This month's Monthly Postcard will go out a bit late, but I wanted to send something freshly bought in Moscow. This postcard comes from the Tretyakov Gallery souvenir shop. I visited their Mai Miturich exhibition—he was a graphic artist who I know as a great children's book artist. I posted his works many times before (check the link above).
This postcard is Mai Miturich's illustration for Chukovsky's "The Adventures of Bibigon", which is easily his most known work in children's books.
I also have an extra copy of this postcards, please sign up if you'd like to receive it!

Monthly postcards - November

This month's postcard is of Franz Josef Land, a Russian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. I got them in St Petersburg. I have 3 extra postcards so you can subscribe to my Monthly Postcard to receive one! (You can subscribe for one month or any number of months.)

Monthly postcards - October

I'm finally home after a long and stressful trip, and it feels so good. So this month I want to send postcards of my hometown! It shows the churches and bell tower of the Sarov Monastery that was founded in 1691, as well as the statue of St Serafim of Sarov.
All postcards will go out with a pictorial postmark of Sarov.

Monthly postcards - September

I recently did two long distance trips by train (12 hours each) so I thought it'd be nice to send train-themed postcards this month. They will be mailed from St Petersburg. You can sign up until Sep 7 to get one!

Monthly postcards - July

This month's postcards are from Abkhazia! I bought them at the central market in Gagra. (They will be mailed from Russia.) Abkhazia doesn't have a working postal system and doesn't issue stamps, and the seller at the market told me they didn't have any postcards to sell until earlier this year.
Sign up until July 1 to receive one of these in the mail!
I have some copies of each card. You're welcome to take a pick and I will try to accomodate as far as possible. Earlier subscribers have priority in picking.

Monthly postcards - June

This month's postcards will be of the Komsomolskaya metro station - one of the most glorious ones in the city. It's part of the metro's official merchandise, I bought it when I was staying in Moscow.
Sign up to receive this postcard in your mailbox :)
PS: I didn't post May postcards here, they were of the Ushakov Cathedral in Saransk (I was on a trip there).
