Our Mods

🌀 Let us introduce you to the Mods of Sonic the Hedgehog ZINE: The 35-year Journey!
⭐ Seasoning is the Head Mod of this zine, who is also responsible for its financial side and merch production as well as promotional artwork. As an artist, they participated in such zines as Sonic World Adventure Zine, Kaleidoscopic Absolution: A Silver the Hedgehog zine, and Laws of Attraction: A WrightWorth Zine.
“I’ve known Sonic for at least 15 years with 5 of them dedicated to drawing Sonic fanart. I guess one can say I owe a lot to him. It’s thanks to SEGA mascot himself that I became somewhat recognisable in the art scene and got an opportunity to create fanmerch, made lots of great new friends and personal acquaintances, including my co-mods. The blue hedgehog draws people in with his approachable and creative fanbase. The fans create fangames, animated series, and comics, they write stories about his adventures hundreds of thousands of words long. It was a fandom I accidentally chose to return to, and it is a fandom I want to stay in.”

⭐ Hassenkot is the Shipping Mod who is also responsible for communication with the artists and the zine layout. She was the host of many early Sonic zines in the Russian fandom.
“Hassenkot speaking!
I can’t believe that this franchise is already 35 while I remember it being 25 and even 20… Time flies as fast as the blue hedgehog himself!
I’ve been in this fandom since 2008; it was my old man who brought a Sonic game into our home – namely Sonic Heroes on PS2. Next were Sonic Adventure and its Chao Garden, and I became obsessed. Must play all the games!! Must read all the comics (not yet)! And naturally, I had to draw my favourite characters, too. And based on that fact that I’m still here 18 years later, this hedgehog and his universe completely won me over :)”

⭐ Kukuruza is the Social Media Mod who is in charge of all communication. Her most notable experience as a zine mod is VEES Behind the Scenes ZINE.
“The day my dad brought home a Sega Mega Drive became a formative experience for me. Sonic enchanted little 5-year-old Kukuruza to such extent that he didn’t just become a favourite character but a true friend and a role model. Following classic games was Sonic X which cemented my wish to adopt Sonic’s best character qualities for myself – his unbound freedom, undying optimism and unshakable self-confidence. Sonic has shown me how important it is to keep moving no matter what because it’s a sure-fire way to find solutions and overcome all problems.
‘Nothing starts until you take action. If you have time to worry, then run!’
Sonic fandom has truly become my home. No matter where life takes me, it’s the space I’m always happy to return to.”

⭐ Kirrit is the Graphics Mod of this zine, responsible for its visual style. He’s the designer behind all the headers, promos, widgets and such.
"My introduction to Sonic was unusual: at first, I was spending hours playing Sonic Rivals on my PSP and trying to use my minimal English knowledge to figure out why this game had so many colourful hedgehogs, and only later I got to see the widely beloved Sonic X on the STS channel. These days I'm trying to master the racing tracks in Crossworlds, listening to Undefeatable on repeat, and doing my best working on the best project for the best franchise!
See you on the zine pages! :)"

⭐ sonysakura is the Social Media Mod in charge of the English socials for the zine and the one behind all the translations. Their mod experience includes Project Chao, Live & Learn: a Sonic/Shadow zine, Sonadow Tarot Project and others.
“Hey there, call me Sony! I’ve been a Sonic fan for over 20 years, and I remember the day I met him like it was yesterday… I begged my friend to let me watch Jetix on his TV just in time for Sonic X to start. Afterwards, I religiously watched every episode and even recorded them to VHS. Later I played Sonic Adventure, and to this day I believe it’s the best game ever. Many things happened since then, but for the past 7 years I’ve been trying to leave my mark in the fandom by making fanworks and joining events and zines. Let’s hope this franchise keeps me inspired for many years to come. Long live Sonic!”
