Video: Test firing a Hexagon suppressor
In this video you can see me taking part in the testing of a sound suppressor, made by a Russian company called "Hexagon". Mounted on a 7.62x39mm AK-104 assault rifle (an issue weapon of a local SOBR SWAT-like police unit), this suppressor went trough several hundreds of rounds in semi-auto and short bursts with no issues. Made of steel, it is full-auto rated and, when tested according to MIL‑STD‑1474D, it offers average noise reduction of 28 dBA on a full-size AK-103, and about 26 dBA on an AK-104, which has a shortened barrel.
This suppressor is intended, primarily, for LE / MIL use, but some civilian shooters in Russia also buy various "cans" to get better hearing protection, and the "Hexagon" company is one of undisputed leaders in this field in Russia.
Civilian ownership of sound suppressors is a gray area in Russia, and I plan to make a separate post about it. What would be your preference, a text with photos, or a video?
