With the launch of Path of Exile 3.29, a new league mechanic has introduced a game-changing way to craft items, specifically Cluster Jewels. This method is being dubbed the "Poor Man's Hinekora" because it allows you to see the outcome of your crafting before committing your currency.
The Core Concept
The new league mechanic features a crafting bench where you can place an item and a currency orb (like a Regal Orb). Instead of a random outcome, the game presents you with three different preview options. You can choose the best result or simply keep the item as it was if none of the options suit you.
The Crafting Strategy
In this video, we focus on Medium Cluster Jewels (specifically with Increased Projectile Damage, 4-5 passives, item level 75-83).
- Preparation: Start with several clean bases. Use Alteration Orbs to roll a specific desired passive (e.g., Follow Through).
- The League Mechanic: Take your Magic (blue) cluster jewels to the league interface.
- The "Hinekora" Effect: Use a Regal Orb in the league craft. You will see three possible outcomes for the added modifier.
- Selection:Look for high-value passives like Repeater, Streamlined, or Aerodynamics.If you hit a good suffix (like high Chaos Resistance), you still have an open prefix to potentially slam an Exalted Orb later.If you hit a top-tier passive immediately, you've just made a significant profit for the cost of a single Regal Orb.
Why This Matters
This method significantly reduces the RNG and "feel bad" moments of using Regal Orbs on good magic bases. Even within the first 24 hours of the league, this strategy allows for consistent profit with very low investment.
While individual crafts might only net a profit of 10-25 Chaos, the speed and safety of the "preview" mechanic make it a powerful tool for early-league wealth generation.
