Path of Exile 2: Is Mindless T15 Map Crafting Profitable? (288 Maps Experiment)
Crafting and rolling high-tier maps is a core part of the endgame in Path of Exile 2, but it often involves spending considerable time checking modifiers, avoiding bad rolls, and managing pricing.
What happens if you completely ignore the mods, apply a fixed currency recipe to a bulk batch of maps, and automate the entire selling process?
To answer this question, I ran a large-scale experiment crafting 288 Tier 15 (T15) maps blindly. Here is a breakdown of the method, the pricing strategy, and the final results.
The Method: A Zero-Brain Crafting Formula
The goal was to test whether raw volume and a consistent, non-selective crafting recipe could generate reliable profits without micromanagement.
For each of the 288 Tier 15 maps, the crafting process was completely identical:
- 1x Orb of Alchemy
- 2x Exalted Orbs
- 1x Vaal Orb
The resulting modifiers on the maps were completely ignored. Good rolls, bad rolls, or corrupted variants—every single map went straight into the trade tab.
The Selling Strategy: Dutch Auction Model
Pricing hundreds of uninspected maps individually is inefficient. Instead, the experiment utilized a decaying price model (Dutch auction):
- Every map was initially listed at an intentionally high price (1,000 Exalted Orbs).
- Prices were automatically reduced by 20% every single hour.
- The market determined the fair value of each map naturally as prices dropped until buyers purchased them.
The Results: Was It Profitable?
Despite paying zero attention to dangerous or unplayable map modifiers, the experiment yielded a net profit exceeding 40 Divine Orbs after factoring in all base map and currency costs.
High-value combinations naturally sold during the early price tiers, while average or niche rolls cleared as prices dropped lower over time.
