The reason for this is simple: I use a zero-knowledge cloud storage provider and I'd like to keep it truly zero-knowledge. Encrypting the files before upload ensures that nobody except those with the password can access the contents.

Please make sure you have software capable of opening password-protected .7z files before the upload goes live.
