Elengrab v0.26.0 - New Release

A new version of Elengrab 0.26.0 is now available!
This release brings major improvements to downloaded media, channel information, playback, access control, and the overall user interface.

What’s new

  • Channel support - added dedicated pages for channel media, channel-based media filtering.
  • Improved channel data - reworked channel db to group information by channels.
  • Access control - guests can no longer edit or delete public media created by other guests. Access validation was also improved for downloads, retries, short links, and media editing/deletion.
  • Improved guest identification - guest media now clearly shows Guest #ID and Guest (You) labels.
  • Simplified media URLs - removed the redundant /watch segment from media item URLs.
  • Audio playback - added a rotating disc indicator for currently playing audio and a visual pause indicator.
  • Playback and UI fixes - fixed the native audio player appearance in dark theme.
  • Version information - added a window showing the Elengrab version, dependency versions, repository, and other project information.
The release also includes a number of internal refactorings, migration improvements, and fixes aimed at making Elengrab more stable and maintainable.

Elengrab v0.25.0 - New Release

A new version of Elengrab 0.25.0 is now available!
This release brings a number of improvements to the user interface, media management, search, playback, and the internal architecture of the project.

What’s new

  • Media sorting — browse media by Newest, Popular, or Oldest.
  • Search by description — media descriptions are now included in search.
  • Edit downloads while they are in progress — download cards can now be edited without waiting for the download to finish.
  • Improved video playback — fixed automatic preview playback and video restarting when pressing Space to pause.
  • UI improvements — added SVG versions of the logo and favicon, updated icons, and improved video player controls.
  • Internal improvements — reworked SQLite repositories, migrations, downloader components, caching, and media management.
  • Updated to Go 1.27.1.
There are also many smaller fixes and technical improvements aimed at making Elengrab more stable and reliable.

Elengrab: YouTube Download Error Fixed

Some Elengrab users may have recently encountered an HTTP 403 error when downloading certain YouTube videos:
`ERROR: unable to download video data: HTTP Error 403: Forbidden (with android_vr)`
This happened because YouTube made changes to the way some videos are delivered. As a result, yt-dlp could no longer properly access the video data in certain cases.
The issue was addressed in yt-dlp 2026.08.19.
I have updated the Elengrab Docker container to include the new version of yt-dlp. The container already supports automatic yt-dlp updates, so the new version should be installed automatically.
If you experienced problems downloading some YouTube videos, please check your yt-dlp version. If it has not been updated automatically, update your Elengrab container to v0.24.2 or use neosy/elengrab:latest.
