Hey, folks! Hope you’re all doing well this week! Just as a quick FYI: The Chapter 14 alpha is now available to all supporters, and the sticky’d post has been updated with a link. 

I’d hoped to at least have the beta out by now, but first my RAM died and then I came down with the flu. So this has been a frustrating, stymieing month to try to get things done. Now, I’m acutely aware of the bad reputation AVN developers have for being (suspiciously) catastrophe-prone. So, I decided to give my Discord community a play-by-play of my sickness with photos of my positive flu test and the thermometer showing my fever, over the four days I felt like death. 😀

But, I’m back to work now, and hopefully I can remain chaos-free for a while. If you happened to cast a hex on me, maybe consider lifting it. I’ve learned my lesson, I promise! But seriously, the first day I got to feeling better, I started back on finishing up Ch14’s beta. It’s mostly a bunch of boring UI stuff, a few bug-fixes, etc. But, it still takes time to finish up.

Hey there, friends! Hope your week’s off to a good start! I had a small hiccup over the last week, when my main PC began suffering from regular crashes. After diagnostics I found some of my RAM had gone bad, and needed to be replaced. I was stuck waiting for the new RAM to arrive in the mail until yesterday, when I thought to scope out the local Best Buy. Lo and behold, I found a nice RAM kit on sale, and was able to install it yesterday. Crisis averted! 

.. besides the fact I need to return the other kit I purchased, I guess. 😓

This all did cause a hiccup with the upcoming Ch14 beta release. I’m still trying to get it ready, but I’m not sure if I’ll quite get it done by Wednesday as planned. If not, I’ll just unlock the alpha for the $5 tier, and the beta will be ready when it’s ready.

Hey, folks! Hope you’re all doing well this week! Just a quick FYI, as of now the alpha for Ch14 is live, and contains the more-or-less final content – save for Gabby’s sugarbaby/corruption scene, which I’m still placing images for/coding. Over the last month I added 580 images for Gabby’s scenes, making Ch14 the largest I’ve done so far (and hopefully ever again.) What remains is to do a little finishing work: smoothing out some weird scene-to-scene transitions by tweaking dialogue, bug-fixes, adjusting scrolling images, etc.

After much soul-searching, several strongly-worded emails from payment processors, and a general sense that the universe was conspiring against adult gaming as a viable business model, I’m thrilled to announce a sweeping new creative pivot. Effective immediately, Neon Ghosts Studio is leaving the adult visual novel space behind and charging headfirst into the wild frontier of mobile gaming with microtransactions.

This was not a decision made lightly. Between shifting global legislation and payment processors treating adult content developers like we're trying to smuggle contraband cheese across international borders, the solo dev path in adult gaming has simply become untenable. So I’m doing what any scrappy, resilient developer does when faced with adversity. 

I’m selling out. Hard.

But selling out, it turns out, has a pretty exciting upside. The slow erosion of my soul and the quiet death of my artistic integrity are already paying dividends in the form of three new projects. Consider this your first return on my investment in shameless commercialism.
