our professor's old recipe for matte thinner for grisaille “wax emulsion”

Ingredients:
-beeswax (30grams)
-thinner number 2 ( white spirit) (250ml)
-distilled water (300ml)
-ammonia (50ml)
How to make:
1) cut the wax into small pieces
2) pour wax and thinner number 2 (white spirit)  into a metal container and set to boil. Stir constantly.
(do not bring to a boil, you just need to dissolve the wax)
3) When the wax has dissolved, remove from heat and let cool slightly
4) Pour into a specially prepared container with a lid where this thinner will be stored. (the container must be sealed, otherwise the thinner will evaporate quickly)
5) Add the remaining ingredients (distilled water and ammonia)
6) Close the container tightly and shake until all ingredients are well mixed
Congratulations! You did wax emulsion!
(let me remind you again, avoid smelling it, it smells very very bad)

Hi Ksy elf, what is this emulsion used for? as a painting medium?

Alice Morgen, Hi) yes, it creates mattifying effect so your oil paints won't have glossy finish! We use it for grisaille sins it is type of drawing technique and it needs to look matt
