Important update

Hey everyone,

I wanted to give you an honest update on where things stand.

Since August, the project has received just two donations - one in December and one in February. I've just paid for the server through April 2026, covering more than half of the cost out of my own pocket. This will be the last payment I make personally.

It just doesn't make sense for me to keep funding the project entirely on my own when the interest clearly isn't there. So I've made the decision to shut it down.

That said, if there are people willing to help cover the server costs through donations, the project could potentially stay alive a bit longer - but strictly on donations only. I won't be putting any more of my own money into it.

If anyone would like to take over the project entirely - the code, the infrastructure, everything - I'm happy to hand it off. Just reach out to me directly.

Otherwise, when the server expires in April, the project and all of its data will be permanently deleted.

Thank you to everyone who supported the project along the way. I appreciate it.

Hello Alex, We (a small fan base of the game's community) heard the news about how it became quiet challenging for you to keep ikalogs running. Nothing is definitive yet, but we are talking about running the website if you can't anymore. We're debating the idea as we speak, both on the economical viewpoint and technical viewpoint (storage optimisation and stuff). We got some coders / informatician among us. I don"t how you would feel about this, about maybe passing the flame if needed, feel free to contact me if you want to discuss it further. This is a serious message, not a joke. Le_Stagiaire

Hey brother, just saw your new post and feel really sad that I just found it and it's being shut down. So I chipped in for a couple more months (included services fee). Please let me know if you got it, as I read some poor comments about Boosty. Would love to keep the flame alive a while longer. This game fills me with nostalgia. I played it as a kid with friends 10y ago and got back 4 weeks ago. I would love to help any way I can. So letting you know I'm also a web developer (mainly JS/TS). News for Russian users only

К сожалению в России ввели новый федеральный закон 152-ФЗ. Кто не в курсе, этот закон направлен "на защиту персональных данных", к которым относится ВООБЩЕ все что может быть на сайте. За не соблюдение закона предусмотрены штрафы в размере от 300т.р. минимум и далее до многих миллионов.

К сожалению, соблюдать вообще все условия этого закона практически не реально для обычных смертных. Просто чтобы вы знали, помощь юристов с заполнением всех документов "под ключ" стоит в районе 700т.р.!!!

К чему я все это веду... Как я и сказал, соблюсти закон физически не реально простым людям. По этому у меня был выбор либо удалить сайт целиком, либо закрыть доступ к нему для всех из РФ по IP.

Небольшой совет всем тем, у кого есть свой персональный мини-сайт: закрывайте его... Либо блокируйте доступ к нему из России. Потому что персональными данными будет считаться даже если вы установили просто яндекс метрику на сайт.

Мне правда жаль это делать... Если есть желающие забрать сайт себе и оставить его жить в России, то я с радостью отдам его совершенно бесплатно, просто чтобы он остался жить.

A small update

Hello everyone,

I want to apologize for the lack of updates recently. There hasn't been much to report, which is why I've been quiet.

I wanted to share a quick financial update with you all. Currently, we've collected approximately €67, which covers just under 3 months of server costs.

As a reminder, our server is currently paid through July 2025. I'm planning to add another three months of coverage later on, hopefully after we've managed to collect a few more donations.

I'm excited to share some great news with you all!

After accounting for all taxes, fees, and commissions, we managed to raise a total of 142 euros. This amount covers approximately 6 months of server costs (it's slightly less, but I've personally contributed the difference).

Alex (Ikalogs), Well could you try to utilize chatgpt for the code, see if it can handle it? Even just 1 tab would be great (the military one). Or adding the ability to use the new transport ships without having to close the script to choose them.

I could even volunteer to help during the end of February when I'll have some limited free time. I'm not a professional programmer, I'm a physicist, but how hard can it be? :P

I apologize for the lack of updates recently. There hasn't been much news to share until now.

I'm pleased to announce that we've recently reached our fundraising goal to cover the server costs for another six months. I plan to process the payment for the server in the coming days. As a reminder, our monthly server expense is €25.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has contributed donations. Your support means a great deal to me, and it's incredibly encouraging to see that people care about keeping this website running.

Future Plans

As I've mentioned before, once we secure funding for two years of server costs, I plan to focus on modernizing the website. After reaching this two-year goal, I intend to use subsequent donations as compensation for my work on these improvements.

In the interest of transparency, I will create a separate post about this plan and conduct a survey to ensure everyone agrees with this approach.

Currently, our website runs on an engine I wrote back in 2012, which has seen minimal updates since then. My goal is to perform a comprehensive update of the engine and implement a minor redesign. These are still in the planning stages, but I'm hopeful we can bring these plans to fruition.

P.S. After completing the payment, I'll post another update confirming exactly which month the server is paid through.

Future Plans and Current Fundraising Goals

Currently, we are raising funds to cover the server rental costs. Ideally, I would like to secure enough donations to pay for the server for the next two years.

If donations continue to come in, I plan to focus on modernizing the site. I have grand plans for its renovation. The code hasn’t been updated since 2012, and I want to completely rewrite it on a new, modern engine, updating both the UI and the server side.

However, I currently don’t have the time to dedicate to this project. BUT, if I see that people need this site, are willing to support it, and donations can at least partially cover the time I spend on development, I would be thrilled to undertake this! Your support and enthusiasm are key to making these improvements a reality. Thank you!
