New Jersey Governor James McGreevy joined Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. management on May 22 to celebrate the grand opening of the current state's largest hotel and the first resort located east of Las Vegas. With a 25-story Bayview Tower and expanded gaming space, the new Harrah's Atlantic City boasts a total of 1,626 hotel rooms and more than 3,700 slot machines.

In addition to McGreevy, Harrah's Chairman and CEO Phil Sattre, Harrah's President and Chief Operating Officer Gary Loveman, Harrah's Eastern Division President Tim Wilmott, Harrah's Senior Vice President and General Manager of Atlantic City Dave Jonas, New Jersey Senator William Gormley and Atlantic City Mayor Lorenzo Langford attended the ribbon cutting ceremony.

"Big things are happening in Atlantic City, and we are optimistic about the future of this market," Satre said. "Harris has always been a leader in Atlantic City, and we are very proud to host the first Las Vegas-style casino resort in the burgeoning Marina District."

Harrah's, a new 452-room Bayview tower, is the most obvious among the first towers to invest $200 million in a coastal destination. Serving as a lighthouse for the Atlantic City skyline, the tower features a unique lighting show with 42 different lighting configurations that can be seen for miles.

"New Jersey welcomes Harrer's $200 million investment in Atlantic City," Gov. McGreevy said. "This project will provide visitors with another hot spot while creating new jobs and revitalizing the economy."

Visitors access the property through a new gravel grand entrance modeled on Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Square. Underneath the Port Cashier, customers can enjoy separate drop-off and pickup spaces for smooth traffic. The rotary door leads to a grand Las Vegas-style lobby, located 30 feet above the new slot space with imported Italian marble, rich timber, art deco plumes, brass shelves, and 450 slot machines.
