Bambu Studio: Settings Worth Checking Before You Print
Bambu Studio: Settings Worth Checking Before You Print
Hey everyone!
Today I have brought together Bambu Studio settings that are useful for multipart figures, small components, and articulated models. Supports, Arachne, brims, walls, and infill each solve a particular problem.
There is no single profile for every model. This guide explains what each setting changes, when to revisit it, and what to inspect in Preview.
1. Layer height and line width are different
Layer height is the thickness of each layer vertically. A thinner layer can make stepping on sloped surfaces less visible, but increases printing time. Reducing layer height alone does not guarantee strength or a perfect finish.
Line width is the width of an extruded path within a layer. It affects walls and small features. If a thin feature disappears after slicing, inspect its toolpaths, line width, and wall generator.
For example, reducing Line width to 0.3 mm with a 0.4 mm nozzle helps preserve details in thin eyebrows like the ones in these screenshots. This can also help with other thin walls. In some cases, I prefer the result to Arachne. This changes line width; the layer height here stays at 0.2 mm.
With a 0.4 mm nozzle, I do not recommend going below 0.3 mm: in my experience, it no longer gives the result I need. This is my practical guideline rather than a universal technical limit for every profile. A 0.6 mm nozzle and other diameters have their own working ranges.
For this example, I set all the shown Line width fields to 0.3 mm. This is a setting for a particular thin component; you do not have to apply it to the whole project.
