Hi there!
Gabital is a fantasy webcomic... which may or may not be (somewhat) educational in terms of economics. It's about capitalism woes in one particular settlement... We'd be glad to have you join our charming protagonist Gabi as she tries to navigate the realities of fantasy capitalism and its troubles and - hopefully - try to solve them... up to a point.
Feel free to look around! Or - my advice - head over to the Master-post for a nice starting point!
At the moment, we are only uploading here and to reddit - you can also read earlier strips of the comic on imgur - but we can not continue uploading there as we got banned for posting from Russia. Same thing with our original Reddit account - automatically flagged and banned without any chance of appeal(hence no first pages on reddit), as well as Twitter.

107: Money

I think that this one really sums up why I love this comic so much. Bartering sounds so much better than exchanging money, but you immediately pointed out the downside as well.
While you do write this wonderfully idealistic story, it never feels like you're cheating to have the story prove your values to be right. It makes your message a lot stronger.
Also, on a note about the art, I LOVE the expressions on Gabi's face in panels 2 and 5. Her frustration is as palpable as it is funny.
I know that I say this a lot but I really love this comic and really hope that there is a print version at some point in the future.

Is Elfstead and Minestead one village? Trying translating the comic and didnt find the Elfstead on the map at ep.105

While I like the idea of bartering, everyone has a different idea of what something is worth. It's really tricky to make it work for everyone in the long term. I don't how to get around that.

Space_Slav, This is "The Myth of Barter." In reality, bartering never worked this way within communities, only during long-distance trades with other settlements which was comparatively rare. Within communities themselves everything ran on credit. If you are a cobbler you don't have to give the neighboring farmer new shoes every time you want potatoes. Everyone knows the shoes are far more valuable. He gives you potatoes when you need them and you repair his boots when he needs it, with a new pair every year or so. Everyone owes everyone else, with parallel debts being transferable to ease the flow of different goods and services. End of year celebrations often involved the trading and cancelling of debts with an 'airing of grievances' to point out those who had taken too much and contributed too little to the community. They might be shunned, punished, or even 'sold' into indentured servitude. This was far from a perfect system, but much more efficient than straight bartering.

Honestly this whole mining rescue thing is the kind of thing that looks REALLY good for Public Relations. I bet Chief will use that social capital somewhere down the line.

Darkened Shadow, Well, the story does... take some turns, but nothing truly special at #100 yet. We just recently discussed that very question and can't place a specific number of issues yet. VERY rough average would be at maybe 70-80, but that's my own assumption gauging from the conversation, can't say for certain.
