The story of The Quiet Girl revolves around the character of Cait played by Katherine Clinch, a young pretty girl who lives in Ireland and gets sent away to stay with foster parents during the summer. She belongs to a dysfunctional family which is not quite normal like any other regular family. All her life she has been neglected and not cared for, how she should have been.

Cait not only has a problematic life at home but she also struggles at school and tries to pretend that everything is fine, but most often fails to do so. She finally goes to the foster parent’s house and meets Sean played by Andrew Bennett and Eibhlin played by Carrie Crowley. In time, Cait finds them to be sober and caring people and eventually becomes comfortable with them but soon she discovers a secret that leaves her in shock.
