of course, what is a good book for one is a bad book for another. This is a very subjective matter. One of my friends is a jewelry salesman in London. I once asked him how he chooses what to buy at auctions. He explained that when he first started working, he bought things that looked neutral, which - as he then thought - would appeal to more customers. However, it quickly turned out that they were not in great demand and rarely managed to sell them at a good price. Then he decided to change his strategy. * now I only buy things that cause me a strong emotional reaction. It doesn't matter if I admire the thing or it repels me - in either case, I am sure that I can sell it at a good price*.
