💖Grace Drayton is one of the first successful American female illustrators, creating commercial projects for newspapers and magazines. Born in 1878 into a wealthy art publishing family, she was educated at the Philadelphia School of Design for Women (PSDW).

🌿Grace had a truly fantastic career for a woman of that time. In 1903, she became the first female comic artist (cartoonist) for The Hearst (I found some pages - see the carousel). 🍰😍Even then, Grace's signature style, which would become so recognizable, began to take shape - those Cupid-like, plump body proportions and funny chubby faces, literally captivating with their cuteness!

🌲In the paper doll community, she is considered one of the most famous illustrators and authors of paper dolls because, developing her style, she invented and created the SUPER POPULAR Dolly Dingle series of dolls - a cute, chubby-cheeked little girl and her friends, for whom she drew thematic sets reflecting important events and just the everyday life of her time.

🌷From their first appearance in 1913 in The Pictorial Review magazine, the dolls were released regularly for more than 10 years, the world of Dolly Dingle was replenished with relatives and friends, who appeared before the children and doll lovers of that time in hundreds of different fabulous and realistic images.
