Hi, my name is Andrey. I’m 18 years old and I live in Russia, in the largest city in Siberia.
I dream of becoming a mangaka, or rather something close to that—I want to publish my own comic. But I realize that my modest skills aren’t enough for that yet, so I’m working hard to improve them.
Do I take on commissioned work? Well, why not? I do. But my rates aren’t cheap. I have a decent job at a sorting center where I can go 4-6 times a month, and it’s enough money to live on. Of course, that’s assuming I work 15-30 hours each time.

What else am I interested in besides drawing?
Games, no question about it. When I was 10, my brother (who’s 6 years older than me) and I worked for our dad (he builds cottages). We assembled furniture, dug holes, and did all sorts of simple tasks. At the end of the month, we got paid, and together with my brother, we bought a PS4. Until I moved out at 17, I was constantly playing on the console. I have a huge list of completed games across all kinds of genres, but I especially love roguelikes.
At 18, I’ve done quite a bit of sports. My body isn’t anything impressive, but I have amazing endurance—a 50 km marathon isn’t a death sentence for me. I can do 30 pull-ups on a bar or 10 muscle-ups. These are my personal, modest achievements.
Of course, I love anime and Japanese culture. My watch list stretches back to early childhood and could pierce the heavens. I’m also a big fan of manga and its Korean and Chinese counterparts. For three years, I actively read novels too—my list there is massive as well.
At one point, I was really into science—biology, chemistry, and physics. My knowledge in those subjects goes way beyond my peers, though it’s not exactly exceptional. It was just a hobby. I even studied at a medical university for half a year, but I didn’t finish, deciding that my path is that of an artist.
And here I am—18 years old, with two friends who live 2,500 km away from me, and my family is far away too. I work from time to time, but mostly I’m trying to get better as an artist. I’m actively working to become more educated—I think it’d be cool if, when I have grandkids, they could ask me any question, and I’d be able to answer it. It sounds silly, but I like the idea.
