PT2025 WIP blog #1 Assets.
Greetings!
First - I want to say thank you for everyone whos subscribed! Your support is very important! I wish to have some more feedback to work with, but I suggest if there is not much to say then I can continue to work as intended.
And now to the topic.
I've been working hard to make some research and reference collection to start building up an asset base which will be used further for Project Touge 2025.
As the new section of roads is released - it needs guard rails and other road infrastructure - I will start with that. I don't want to use old assets, as they are clearly outdated.
There will be at least 3 types of road guard used all of which is commonly used in Japan. I think I've done work with 2 of them so here is the result:

3-tube guard type and standard guard rail are modelled, textured and material created. As picture shows - each type of guard rail has different wear condition - Normal, Worn, Light Rust, Medium Rust and Heavy Rust. To create such a big project - I need to think about optimization in front, that's why all guardrails are consist from single material and share one texture set with Diffuse, txMaps and Normal maps.
Of course each type will need poles for it, with corresponding wear condition. Guard rail will also need an ending cap. And they're also been done:

Again, textures count is minimal.
It is worth to mention that material is PBR based, so exporting to Assetto Corsa is not so easy, and needed some testing and creating of the proper pipeline for the future. But I hope, creating base materials using the PBR method will help to easy convert PT2025 to AC Evo as it will be available. Anyway I've figured out how to properly export and convert maps for AC, so further work with texturing won't be so hard and time consuming.

Some screens of the map creation pipelines.
Thoughts on the further development.
So I've been thinking that PT2025 needs a LOT of new assets, and I can't just go into it without updating main track. So my plan is to work on PT2025 weekly. Each week is dedicated to:
1.New assets. It is basically week to create and place new assets to the map, create new materials and textures.
2.New road layouts, which is self explanatory :)
3.Traffic. Some people asked about traffic implementation so I thought it would be nice to gradually add traffic to all PT2025 roads. I will slowly add traffic to each section of the track :)
I hope this way of work will balance overall progress on the map and you will get updates more often.
Also I will try to make weekly report about development progress, so there won't be questions if there are work going or not. I don't promise that posts will be very informative, but I think it is important to give a progress feedback for the subscribers.
Online server will be available soon.

I know that best way to explore PT is with your friends, so soon there will be an online server with the PT2025 map for you! ;)
That's it for today. Share your thoughts about my weekly development assignments split and about new guard rails materials ;)
