Hi!
I’m continuing my story about developing games and other size difference content.
Before I talk about what I’ve done over the past week, I’d like to make a little digression. I’ve written about this many times in previous posts, but despite that, readers often have a lot of questions.
---------------------------------------
My name is still Helen, and I’m still a single mother with two children, working three jobs at different factories.
I work on creating size difference images on late evenings during weekdays. On weekends (also on late evenings, since household chores and spending time with my children still need to be done), I work on developing size difference games.
At the moment, I’m working alone, without any help. All I can rely on are my own strength and enthusiasm.
Don’t get me wrong — I’m not complaining at all. I’m writing this because, despite repeating it many times, many readers still have questions and comments about my life and my life situation.
Of course, many people don’t believe me, thinking that I’m making everything up to tug at people’s heartstrings and solicit donations. I receive a lot of messages about this. It makes me sad to read such messages, as I’m not forcing anyone to donate. Donations are entirely voluntary.
The only reason I share details about my personal situation is to explain why new content is being created so slowly. Many people write that they’d like to see the finished game sooner. Believe me, I’d like that too. But my life situation doesn’t allow me to quit my factory jobs. I have to provide for my children. After all, my children are the meaning of my life!
---------------------------------------
I’m continuing to develop the game Size Difference World, porting the code from the RPG Maker engine to the Construct engine. Despite all the challenges, Construct offers more possibilities for implementing game mechanics — particularly those related to action. I want to add a real time combat system, and last week I implemented the main character’s ability to shoot fireballs.
Now, before creating a combat system for the enemy girls, I want to implement a pursuit mechanic for them. A simplified mechanic was added earlier, but with that implementation, the enemy girls lose some capabilities. In particular, they can’t navigate around obstacles.
The new movement mechanic for the girls will be able to find a path to the target while avoiding specified obstacles.
I'll return to the pathfinding mechanics a bit later. Right now, I want to solve another problem. The issue is that when several girls approach the player at once, their sprites overlap incorrectly, which looks bad. I need to come up with an algorithm that will make the game read the relative positions of the enemy girls and correctly move their sprites to lower or higher layers.
I’ll have to deal with this issue next week, as my free time has unfortunately run out today.
Let me remind that I’m currently not publishing work in progress builds of the game on my pages, as they’re still unplayable.
Instead, I publish a video showing the results of my work in a separate post.
In addition to everything else, I’ve created a new size difference image. It’s now available in the private gallery.
Thank you so much to everyone who supports me.
